A leader does not possess а noumenal leadership quality. Not a single one. You simply cannot be a leader with nobody to follow you. Natural born leaders do not exist.
A leader’s element is a function of his social environment. When the climate is good, given the right circumstances, and when the nourishment is proper, sufficient and regular, certain traits within a person will most certainly sprout and bloom. Traits, which will always depend on the Others – those, who are bound to be his followers. Only what they see and, consequently (and most likely – unconsciously), cultivate within a potential leader, will grow to the point of being a major characteristic. The leader’s leadership essence is, in essence, constructed (and, respectively, construed as such) by his disciples.
A leader is only as good as his leadees empower him to be.
